Star Wars Actor Mark Hamill Takes the Podium at White House, and the Results are Not Glorious

Star Wars Actor Mark Hamill Takes the Podium at White House, and the Results are Not Glorious

“There’s chaos on American campuses, a poor jobs report, and Team Biden thought it was a great idea to trot out an actor whose was last hit film was 41 years ago to tell profoundly horrible jokes”

I want to wish Legal Insurrection readers a belated happy Star Wars Day.

In honor of May the Fourth, I am sharing with you what happened when Star Wars actor Mark Hamill (who played Luke Skywalker in the iconic series) stepped up to the podium during a White House press conference. He took over briefly from the uninspired Karine Jean-Pierre, after having visited with Biden.

“How many of you had ‘Mark Hamill will lead the press briefing’ on your bingo cards?” Hamill, sporting a pair of sunglasses, told reporters at the top of the White House’s press briefing.

“I just got to meet the president, and he gave me these aviator glasses,” added Hamill, known for his role as Luke Skywalker.

Asked about his Oval Office visit with Biden, Hamill said, “I called him ‘Mr. President.’ He said, ‘You can call me Joe.’”

Then Hamill quipped, “I said, ‘Can I call you Joe-B-Wan Kenobi?” offering a Biden-inspired play on the name of the famed Jedi master character in the intergalactic franchise.

Why was Hamill at the White House? I suspect for the same reason there is now a proposal for decreasing restrictions on marijuana. . .Biden is bleeding in the polls worse that Anakin Skywalker after his final battle with Obi Wan Kenobi.

Both Hamill and the White House were vague about his reason for visiting. But Hamill, a Democrat and Biden supporter with a huge social media following, has been posting about the president’s reelection campaign this week.

The trouble is that Americans are struggling with a myriad of issues, especially the ongoing Hamas-hate-camps springing up at our iconic institutions of higher learning.

On the other hand, as the press briefing room resembles the famous Cantina minus the jazz music, perhaps it is fitting that Hamil take the podium.

It turns out this trip was extra special for Hamill.

“First of all, I only expected to be in there for like five minutes,” Hamill said elsewhere during his appearance. “He showed us all these photographs. It was really amazing to me. I was invited to the Carter White House and I came, and then I came to the Obama White House. But I was never invited to the Oval Office, so this was extra special.”

I think Hamill is going to discover that Americans cared much more about celebrities and their opinions in the Carter era.

Furthermore, we also have access to video tools and media platforms that were not available in the 1970’s.

A one-hit wonder. And sequels. Was it that he couldn’t get hired for any other roles? And he’s still making lame jokes about the same movie?

A lot of it was that his face got messed up in a car wreck and was never the same afterwards (that’s why they had to add the bit to Empire about the wampa clawing him).

And the fact that he’s CRAZY.

He didn’t get other gigs because his acting is horrible. Have you ever re-watched the star wars movies?

I am likely the only American who:

        1) Never saw any Star Wars movies.

        2) Never saw ET.

        3) Never saw Titanic.

        4) Didn’t care who shot JR.

        5) Never saw a single episode of Seinfeld nor did I want to.

No wonder people look at me, then gesture and point when they think I can’t see them.

Fun fact, I was very young when Star Wars came out, but my dad wanted to see it so he took us out to dinner (some pizza place if memory serves, I was that young), but that was a mistake. Our bellies full, our sensibilities not aligned with space shows or movies, we all slept through it (except dad). I’ve never did see a Star Wars movie, either. Not one (even though I studied Joseph Campbell as an undergrad).

I did see ET and the Titanic, but didn’t (and still don’t) like soap operas enough to much register that JR was shot and couldn’t have cared less who shot him and never found Seinfeld remotely funny (I did see several episodes, but I’ve never really liked stand-up, and stand-up in sitcom form was just torturous to me, but I get that other people like it). Also, people are gesturing and pointing at you because they are in awe of your bearded awesomeness. We all know this. 🙂

All I remember about Who Shot JR is that the night the “whodoneit” was supposed to be revealed, Hurricane David swept through Florida and the power went out about five minutes into the episode. We were spending the night at my grandmother’s house and she darn near disolved into hysterics. Dad was not sure whether to laugh or cry himself. I was usually in bed by that time anyway and was only awake because of the storm.

Probably once at most. Was there any good acting in those movies? Most of the characters were so sci-fi-ish that I didn’t expect anything to be convincing.

Star Wars, a few other movies, and a lot of voice parts.

Most actors seen to be style without substance.

    Wasn’t Hamil in American Graffiti?

an actor whose was last hit film was 41 years ago

Regardless of Hamill’s political views, The Last Jedi was the highest grossing film of 2017 and 9th of all time. In 2019, The Rise of Skywalker raked in over a billion dollars. Hamill also has had success as a voice actor, particular as the Joker in the highly acclaimed Batman: The Animated Series.

To quibble, the rise of the foreign box office dramatically favors new movies. If just considering the North America box office, it is pretty far down the list after adjusting for inflation.

I totally agree that has very little to do with his political views and that he has been a phenomenal and rather prolific voice actor.

henrybowman: there are long lines at the cons’ autograph tables for the voice actors.

Good point. Famous voice actors, such as Kevin Conroy, can draw significant crowds at comicons.

    Dathurtz: To quibble . . .

    Back at ya!

Dathurtz: If just considering the North America box office, it is pretty far down the list after adjusting for inflation.

The Last Jedi had the highest domestic box office for 2017, which doesn’t require adjusting for inflation to count as a box office hit—contrary to the claim above.

Never saw The Rise of Skywalker, or anything with the new infallible heroine. I understand the producers were determined to excise the “excessive whiteness” of the cast and that Hamill played a drunk loser who basically wussed out on everything. All in all, superior to the real Hamill though. And on a side note, jj abrams ruined the star trek characters too.

It’s funny, whenever I see his cringey pro-Joe posts on X the first thing I think of is his accident. The second is Stephen King, his accident, and his equally cringey pro-Joe posts. Both mentally ill or brain damaged female Democrat voters, as far as I’m concerned.

Why would anyone but the official White House spokespeople speak at the press briefing? Is there nothing more important going on in the country that they can waste everyone’s time with this washed-up actor? Does the White House have this much disdain for the press and the American people? That is a rhetorical question.

It’s quite possible that Hamill could pull more rational answers to press questions straight out of his ass than Karinge has ever pulled out of her notebook.

Mark Hamil has a face that resembles the south bound end of a northbound wookie.

Please do not appoint him commander of Space Force.

They were left over from “They Live! Day.”
Joe cautioned him not to put them on in the Oval Office.

That’s cringeworthy. Aged out luke skywalker campaigning for dementia joe. Biden has lost the plot, he needs to be retired to memory care facility where staff prevents residents from wandering off and getting lost.

May the Wokeness be with him!

Last week Michael Douglas claimed JoeBama was as sharp of mind he’s ever seen – or something.

These cringe shows are just fog of war narratives for the touchy feely midwits and sychophants who want the cringe, and lies as the new normal – and the msn is more than happy to cash those checks. Normal good; orangeman bad.

4 more y e a r s. please clap

They need to trot out that 10 @ 2 from the Obama era who equated voting for Obama to be like losing her virginity.

I forget her name. So has everyone else. Find recent pic and recent video. SHE needs to stump for Biden and equate it to sex again, because I bet that entire bit has aged like tuna sandwich with mayo in the hot sun.

Oh yes Mark Hamill will really turn out the young vote….morons.

This is a typical problem with pols, though, on both sides of the aisle. They are all so old now that they truly think that crap that was popular long before many voters (or even their parents!) were even born is still popular. And cool. Or whatever. It’s ridiculous, and you’d think all the kiddies in the Biden admin would have spoken up with a “Mark Who?”. But apparently not.

Man, I’m old enough to have watched the original movie in an actual movie theatre. At that time on a big screen it was magic.

Shut up and pretend to be a space wizard, Mark. Seriously, I’ve never understood the fascination with actors and their political views. I don’t watch them to hear what they think of Politician X or Position Y, I want them to entertain me. Most of them are shallow and unthinking, and they live in a bubble where they rarely even hear another viewpoint. Their beliefs mean nothing to me.

Years ago, Patrick McNee did an interview where he made the same point. I’m an actor, not an analyst. Why would people care what I think about politics. (Words to that effect.)

Plus, they lie a lot, changing history to virtue signal.

Macnee in particular used to make a big thing about how they “never used guns” on The Avengers. But any aficionado of the show — especially the earliest B&W seasons — knows it’s a lie. (And that’s not even counting the iconic intro in which Diana Rigg shot the cork off a champagne bottle in Macnee’s hand every week.)

If George Burns was alive today, he’d be bragging to us all about how he never allowed smoking on the set because it’s a filthy habit.

Come on Legal Insurrection…. how is this more newsworthy than the Biden administration. finalizing a rule that gives illegal aliens legal status to claim Obamacare benefits?????
Democrats use technical dodges such as redefining the term “Lawfully Residing” in order to get around Congressional prohibitions on illegals getting federal benefits. I realized that since the administration announced this rulrvon Friday that you couldn’t address it until the weekend but all I see are Antisemitism/ college protest stories and Limpdick Skywalker. This Democrat manipulation of federal law is important and somehow being ignored by the people that need to be calling it out What gives?

I would have thought there were more SW nerds here, but not a one.

.Biden is bleeding in the polls worse than Anakin Skywalker after his final battle with Obi Wan Kenobi.

In his final battle with Obi-Wan, Anakin kills Obi-Wan. He doesn’t bleed at all.

It happens after they free the princess and are escaping the Death Star in ‘A New Hope’
