Manhattan district attorney adds top prosecutor to ranks for Trump investigation: Report

The Manhattan district attorney’s office is reportedly bulking up its team that is investigating former President Donald Trump and the Trump Organization.

Cyrus Vance Jr.’s team enlisted the help of Mark Pomerantz, a former prosecutor with experience investigating organized crime cases. Danny Frost, communications director for the district attorney’s office, confirmed to the Washington Examiner that Pomerantz had been hired as special assistant district attorney but did not specify the reason for his employment or in what capacity he would be assisting.

At issue is an investigation into whether the organization committed bank fraud. The office is waiting on a Supreme Court decision that could give it access to the former president’s tax returns, information it said is crucial to its investigation.

Trump has previously called the inquiry a “witch hunt.” The Trump Organization declined to comment to the New York Times about the hire and did not immediately return the Washington Examiner’s request for comment.
